Ernest A. "Ernie" Marino

Ernest A. “Ernie” Marino, 99, of Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Wheeling Hospital Continuous Care Center, Wheeling, WV. Ernie was born March 27, 1920 in Chester, WV a son of the late Frank Marino, Sr. and Rose (Rocco) Marino.

Ernie retired from the Belmont County Engineer’s Dept. and Heslop Funeral Home.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Mother of God Council #1421 K of C where he was a 4th Degree, both of Martins Ferry. Ernie served on Martins Ferry City Council 1960 to 1975 and was a member of Commodore Jack Barry Assembly of Bellaire, OH. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army World War II.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine Ann (Scarfo) Marino, and siblings; James, William, Sam, Alfred and Frank Marino, Jr., and Frances Viola and Lucy Takach.

Surviving are his children; Darryl E. Marino of Conway, SC and Fran L. Marino of Martins Ferry, grandchildren; Ashley and Lance Marino, great grandchildren; Sapphire, Jemma, Jazmin, Aurora, Harley, and Mary, siblings; Raymond Marino of Follansbee, WV, Carmen (Sally) Marino of Henderson, NV and Dolly Cruise of Fontana, CA.

Friends and family will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 20 N. 4th St., Martins Ferry with Rev. Tom Marut officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.

Christian Wake Services will be held Tuesday at 7:30 pm in the funeral home.

Military Honors will be presented by the Belmont County Veteran’s Association Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
