Francis Dan McCardle, Sr.

Francis Dan McCardle Sr., 87 of Martins Ferry passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023.  He was born October 4, 1935, the son of the late Frank D. and Esther (Amos) McCardle. 

He retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Company, Martins Ferry Plant as a Truck Driver; after his retirement he enjoyed working as the train and trolley driver at Oglebay Park.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nila (Barker) McCardle, second wife, Shirley (Barker) McCardle, children, Brenda, Faye and Kenny, daughter in laws, Harriet and Jeanie McCardle, son-in-law Daniel E. Case, granddaughter, Azlyn Denise Case, siblings, Ray McCardle and Mildred Brown.    

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy Lee (Preston) McCardle of Martins Ferry, his children, Frank McCardle, Denny McCardle both of Wheeling, Shirley Jo Case of St. Clairsville, Dan (Cindy) McCardle of Hilliard, Annette Zanes of Martins Ferry, and Robert McCardle of Adena, 11 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, and 10 great-grandchildren complete the family. 

Family will receive friends Monday, May 22, 2023, from 2-8pm at the Wilson Funeral Home-Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut Street, Martins Ferry, OH 43935.  Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 10am.  Burial to follow at the Stone Church Cemetery of Wheeling, WV.
