George Thompson Porter, 78, of Bridgeport, OH went home to be with Jesus on January 28, 2020 while at The James Cancer Center in Columbus.
He was born January 26, 1942, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Bernard D. and Anna S. (Weir) Porter.
George was a retired accountant for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, was in the U.S. Army Reserves, and was a member of the First Christian Church in Martins Ferry, OH.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Kay (Hardesty) Porter; sons, Thomas D. (Wendy) Porter of Sunset Heights, Jeffrey S. (Amy) Porter of Barnesville; grandchildren, Meagan Porter of Sunset Heights, J.T., Luke, and Beau Porter all of Barnesville; great-grandson, Jacob Ault; and brother, David Porter of Colerain.
Friends will be received Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the First Christian Church, 710 S. Zane Highway, Martins Ferry, OH 43935 from 10:30a.m. until time of services at 11:30a.m. with Pastor Rod Kasler officiating. Entombment to follow at Holly Memorial, Pleasant Grove.
We envy dad walking the streets of heaven in Jesus’ presence, loving and being loved by Him. His parting words to us are, “The Lord loves you and I do too.”
