Jack Brown Obituary

Jack Curtis Brown, 83, of Jerusalem, Ohio passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025 in Liza’s Place, Valley Hospice Care Center, Wheeling, West Virginia.  He was born April 6, 1942 in Barnesville, Ohio.

Jack was a retired employee of the former ORMET Corporation, near Hannibal, Ohio where he worked as a carbon setter for years.  He was a member of the Jerusalem Community Church and the Moose Lodge.  Jack enjoyed any activity that involved being outdoors; two of his favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing.  A graduate of Barnesville High School, Jack began cultivating his love of sports as a young boy on through high school while playing football and wrestling as a standout Barnesville Shamrock athlete.  His love of football continued into adulthood as over the years he became a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ohio State Buckeyes, and WVU Mountaineers. However he will forever be honored by many as one of the most loyal Beallsville Blue Devil fans of all times.  Jack loved talking to people; his stories and ability to make people smile will be remembered by everyone who was fortunate to have known him.

In addition to his mother, Orlena “Birdie” Cline Brown, Jack was preceded in death by siblings, William Brown, Nancy Fisher, and James Brown; also by a grandson, Mason Richendollar, and a daughter-in-law, Amanda Richendollar Brown.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 63 years, Sierra “Sue” Phillips Brown: three  children, Marty Brown (Becky) of Jerusalem, Molly (Larry) Woods of Flushing, and Wendy (Jim) Horsley of Columbus; three grandchildren, Josef Neilson (Shayla), Erik Neilson (Samantha), and Jamice Richendollar; two great-grandsons, Jaxson Richendollar and Jaxon Blake; also his mini weiner dog, Cracker.

Family and friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home, Harper Chapel, Beallsville, Saturday, June 14 from 10am until 2pm and from 4pm until 8pm, at which time there will be a brief service along with a time of remembrance when friends and family will have the opportunity to honor Jack’s memory by sharing their memories.

Inurnment will be held at a time of his family’s choosing.
