James Albert Solomon, Sr.

James A. Solomon, Sr. 88 of Bridgeport passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, at his residence.  He was born on December 4, 1936, in Martins Ferry, the son of the late James B. and Elizabeth Solomon. 

James was a veteran of the United States Navy, retired Union Laborer of Wheeling, WV, and a member of the Lansing United Methodist Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Suzanne (Friend) Dunlavy Solomon in 2021, daughter, Mary Helms, son, Phillip Dunlavy, sisters, Ruth Beazel, Donna Tustin, and Pat. 

Left to cherish his memory are his children, James A. Solomon, Jr. of Bridgeport, John (Linda) Dunlavy, Sr. of Bridgeport, daughters, Linda (Frank) Wills of MS and Vicki (Alan) Price of TX, son-in-law Ronald Helms of Lansing, grandchildren, Anne Helms, Lance and Wesley Wills, Suzanne (Jeremiah) Bond, Crystal (Diego) Castro, John (Catelyn) Dunlavy, Jr., Lisa M. and Laura J. Dunlavy, Rachel and Jessica Price, 19 great-grandchildren complete his family. 

Friends will be received Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Bridgeport, OH 43912.  Funeral Service will be Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. James Hoff officiating, burial to follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.  The full Military Honors will be presented at the cemetery.
