Obituary

John J. “Jash” Gerevics, 73, of Blaine, OH, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Valley Hospice, Liza’s Place.  He was born on September 25, 1949, in Martins Ferry, the son of the late John and Mary (Pollock) Gerevics.  John was a former employee of Clevite in Lansing and Altivity Packaging in Wellsburg, WV.  He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wolfhurst; USWA Local 12315; and the Bridgeport Eagles.  John served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. 

He is survived by a son, Brian and his wife Jennifer of St. Clairsville; two daughters, Jennifer Doty of Martins Ferry and Victoria Gerevics of Belmont; one grandson, Maddox; two granddaughters, Madison and Laykin; two sisters, Bernadine Wodarcyk of Lancaster, PA and Debbie Wines of Martins Ferry; Tina R. Gerevics, the mother of his children; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Amy Sammeth.

Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 68210 Neola Ave, Bridgeport, with Father John Mucha officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, Blaine.
