John Panepucci Obituary

John Antonio  “Ham” Panepucci, 97, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at his home in Dillonvale, Ohio.

John was born October 3, 1923, in Dillonvale and was the son of the late Domenick and Ada (Cimati) Panepucci.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years Agnes (Slivenski) Panepucci, infant daughter Christina and brothers Dante, Mario, and Anthony.

He is survived by his children Domenic (Charlene), Jon Dino (Sharon), and Susan Plinta (Joe), his grandchildren Vanessa, Christopher (Kaiti) and Brent Panepucci, Nicholas (Amanda), Benjamin and Zachary Panepucci and Kay (Jason) Plinta - Howard as well as his siblings Arthur Panepucci and Rena Milhoan.

John served his country honorably during World War II with the US Navy in the South Pacific. Upon his return home he married the love of his life Agnes and they started their family and long life together. John worked on the railroad, retiring from Norfolk & Western, and spent several years as a Mt. Pleasant Township trustee. He was a lifelong member of the Dillonvale American Legion McCook Post 529 and a long- term member of St. Adalberts Catholic Church where he ushered for many years.

Always one to socialize, he enjoyed seeing his friends at social clubs such as the Firemen’s, Pine Valley Sportsmen’s, and the Italian American Club.

In his own way he cared deeply for his family and grandchildren. His grandchildren knew him as Pappy and enjoyed his cooking expertise as well as his sense of humor, both of which will be sorely missed.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic the service will be private.

Burial will be in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.

Arrangements entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home,154 Second St., Dillonvale, Ohio.  Donations may be made in John’s memory to St. Adalberts Catholic Church, 39 Smithfield Street, Dillonvale, Ohio.
