JOHN CARL WHARTON
On June 9, 2021, John Carl Wharton, 83, of Barnesville, Ohio, was reunited with his wife, Beverly in Heaven.
John was born at his family home at 60520 Hunter-Bethesda Road, Bethesda, Ohio on February 12, 1938, to the late, J. Merle and Thelma (McKinley) Wharton and was one of three children welcomed into the Wharton family. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother, William “Bill” Wharton and sister, Glenna Heskett.
Proudly serving his country in the United States Army, John spent time in Thailand and Cambodia, with tensions mounting, as the build up to the Vietnam War was then in full swing. John was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church and the Bethesda American Legion. Having a strong work ethic, John enjoyed both jobs as a farmer and superintendent for Tri-State Asphalt and fulfilled his responsibilities to both, without hesitation. As a superintendent for Tri-State Asphalt, he managed the daily job activities of his road crew. His passion for farming was centered on his love of the land.
John’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family who survive him; sons, Rhett Wharton, Timothy (Mindy) Howell, Jody (Dee Dee) Howell all of Barnesville; grandchildren, Sayrde (Callan) Meikle, Ashley (Lance) Hannahs, Sam Howell, Dustin Howell, and Chloe Howell; great-grandchildren, Ayden and Christien Hannahs and Averick Meikle; and his loyal and faithful canine companion, Parker Dale.
