Kenneth William Neel

Kenneth William Neel, 57, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Dillonvale,   Ohio on April 22, 2025. Born on May 30, 1967 in Wheeling, West Virginia, Ken lived a life full of rhythm, heart, and connection.  Ken leaves behind his loving wife, Susan Summers-Neel, and his adoring daughter, Meghan, and her little brother Bernie the Boxer, who were the center of his world. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Richard Robert Neel II (Marcia) of Townville, South Carolina as well as his adopted brother Jojo Kitty. In addition, he leaves behind several cherished nieces and nephews, all of whom he held close to his heart.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Robert Neel, and his mother, Marian Rose (Graziano) Neel.

A lifelong musician, Ken found joy and purpose in the rhythm of a bass guitar and the energy of the stage. Music wasn’t just something he did — it was who he was. Whether performing in bands or sharing stories about his favorite gigs, Ken’s passion was infectious. One of his proudest accomplishments was passing that love of music to his daughter, Meghan, who followed in his footsteps the day she picked up a trombone.  Ken was also deeply committed to his career, spending nearly 30 years with Totterdale Bros. Supply. He began in sales, advanced into management, and ultimately became a co-owner — a testament to his dedication, integrity, and the respect he earned from colleagues and clients alike.  Most telling about Ken throughout his life was the sheer number of people who were proud to call him a friend. He had a rare gift for making others feel seen and supported — always willing to lend a hand, bend your ear (sometimes for hours), or bring a smile with his quick wit and warm laughter.  His presence was a comfort, and his humor a light, no matter how dark the situation might seem — the kind that made a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know him.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 25th, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Dillonvale, Ohio.  Funeral services will take place at the same location on Saturday, April 26th at 11:00 AM, officiated by Reverend Dan Cook.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to musicares.org, in honor of Ken’s deep love of music and his generous spirit.  The charity provides, at no cost, mental health and addiction recovery services, financial assistance, and human services such as housing for musicians in need.

Ken touched the hearts and lives of so many. We hope you keep those memories of him in your hearts forevermore.
