Marie Esther Vargo, 91 of St. Clairsville, OH died peacefully on July 23, 2022, at Belmont Manor Care Center. Marie was born April 4, 1931, daughter of the late and Louis and Mary Kotopka. She owned and operated Marie’s Beauty Salon in Martins Ferry, OH and loved quilting, gardening, walking, cooking (especially loved by her family is her Hungarian Creamed Chicken and Dumplings and Nut Rolls), yoga and decorating. She especially enjoyed playing cards with friends, as well as traveling, dancing, and sitting on the front porch swing with her beloved husband Bob. Bob was the love of her life and always likes to tell people, “How could one woman live in such marital bliss for so many years.” Her faith in God marked her character and she was very involved in her church. But more than anything she loved spending time with her family. Christmas was her most cherished time when the family gathered and spent time together. She was a wonderful and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who lived her life wanting to make everyone happy and she succeeded.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Louis Kotopka Jr., John Kotopka, Frank (Bud) Kotopka, and Pauline Carson. She is survived by siblings Eva Reynolds, Frances (Nancy) DeLande, Art Kotopka.
Marie is survived by her loving husband of 72 years Robert A Vargo of St. Clairsville, OH and daughters Vicki (Dan) Newsome of Seneca, SC and Debbie (Chuck) Cenkus of St. Clairsville. OH. They have four grandchildren: Patrick Coughenour; Chuck (Katie) Cenkus; Lauren (Jed) Ott and Nate (Alex) Newsome. Nine great grandchildren include: Miles and Hadlie Coughenour; Olivia and Weston Ott, Elek, Luke and Levi Cenkus and Penelope and Knox Newsome. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive Marie.
