Martha Ann (Wardle) Gonot

Martha Ann Gonot, 95, of St. Clairsville passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born on June 26, 1930, in Wheeling, WV, the daughter of the late Charles W.  and Margaret M. (Greer) Wardle. 

Martha was retired after 45 years of service from AEP as a Supervisor, she was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and the Alpha Pi Sigma both of Martins Ferry.  She was a member of the Belmont Hills Country Club and enjoyed playing cards. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Gonot, siblings, Kenneth Wardle, Doloris Travis and niece, Carolyn Frizzel.

Martha Ann was a true people person; she was known for her ability to connect with everyone she met.  Her generosity, compassion, and sense of humor made her one of a kind.  Those fortunate enough to call her friend knew they had someone who genuinely cared. 

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Rick (Debbie) Appenzeller of Martins Ferry, two great grandsons, Drake and Trent Rice, great-granddaughters, Katie and Allison Meyer, grandchildren, Amie Meyer, and Rev. David (Lori) Meyer, three nieces, Margie Urbanek, Marci Ann Morrison, and  Marrilyn Addams special friend and caregiver, Maggie Pando, and all the caregivers who took such good care of her. 

Family and friends will be received Monday, December 22nd from 11am till time of service at 1pm, at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside, Oh, 43912.  Funeral Service will begin at 1pm at the funeral home, with Pastor David Meyer officiating, Entombment will follow the service at Holly Memorial Garden Mausoleum, Pleasant Grove.
