Mary Lou had a deep uncompromising religious belief in God and never wavered no matter whether times were good or not so good. She showcased her devoted beliefs by singing in and at times leading the church choir; by volunteering to say the rosary to those seeking comfort or relief; and by delivering communion to those requiring extra assistance. She walked the talk in her beliefs and efforts as a longstanding devout Catholic.
Mary Lou cherished her family and friends throughout her life. She loved her husband Leonard greatly and her kids were always the "heart and soul" of her existence and remained so until her passing. She shared her time and effort with her close friends as well. Some of her special lifelong friends included Jake and Sherry Molter of Bridgeport Ohio, Bernadine Ellis of Bridgeport Ohio and her cousin Opal Heil of Elm Grove, WV. They, along with her deceased "best friend" Dolores Turner, held a special bond and place in Mary Lou's heart. She held a fierce loyalty to these friends, as did they toward her. They served as the pillars of strength for Mary Lou and gave her their "voice," their "ear," and always their "undivided attention and sincerity" during their blessed journey together. Extra Special recognition goes to Debbie Gordon, her daughter in law, for the incredible sacrifices, devotion and attentiveness to Mary Lou over the period of more than four decades. Wherever and whenever Mary Lou experienced life's storm clouds, Debbie was always the first to come to her aid. She provided Mary Lou all the tools needed when needed, whether it be a soothing reassuring voice telling her "you did great" or a comforting "all will be well" pep talk when darkness loomed," and as required, served in a heroic intermediary role to run interference or influence as required by challenging life events. Debbie was her amazing Angel from Above. She did it all and words cannot do justice for her sacrifices and love for Mary Lou.
When Mary Lou wasn't spending time with her close friends or family, she liked to make greeting cards, read an occasional book and watch her beloved Baltimore Orioles baseball team with her friend Tom. Her favorite player was Manny Machado. She also enjoyed cookouts with friends and watching movies, especially Hallmark channel love stories.
Mary Lou was a caring loving wife and parent, a cherished fiercely loyal close friend, and a beloved Grandmother. While she adored and loved all of her grandkids, Aiden got the opportunity to share more time with her and seized the moments. He was the "apple of her eye."
