Mary Lou Skatula, 89, of Dillonvale, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in her home. She was born on December 9, 1935, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late William Wells Shively and Geneva (Kimble) Smith. Mary Lou retired as a secretary from D’Annabelle & Company of Steubenville and also was employed by the former Hornes department store. She was also a member of the Dillonvale Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon and the Dillonvale American Legion McCook post Auxiliary.
Mary Lou is survived by her children, John Skatula Jr., Dillonvale, Chris A. (Kathy) Skatula, St. Clairsville, Frank “Dutch” (Sherrie) Skatula, St. Clairsville, Kathy (Jim) Cesario, Rayland, and Michael (Mica) Skatula, Dillonvale; a daughter-in-law, Gina Skatula, Adena; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Skatula Sr. in 1999; a special friend, John “Buck” Marko; siblings, Robert “Bob” Smith, George Roland Smith; Merrick “Buddy” Smith, William “Tex” Shively, Maxine Shively Glover, Charles Bruce Shively, Lawrence Wayne Shively Sr., Sandra May Shively Kropka Michalo, Henry Tolbert “Toby” Shively; two late nieces, Pamela Glover Doane, and Linda Glover Michalo.
Friends may call Monday from 11 am to 1 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second St., Dillonvale. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 1 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Dee Kovach officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, Ohio 43943.
