Mary Kathleen "Kathy" (Zani) Maroon

  Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Maroon, 76, of St. Clairsville, Passed away Wednesday June 30, 2021, at Liza’s Place surrounded by her family. She was born November 24, 1944, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Ralph and Lenora (Bayles) Zani.
  She was semi-retired owner of Abbey’s Restaurant and Lounge on Wheeling Island, also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church St. Clairsville. Kathy was a loving, devoted, passionate wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated the same level of love and care to her family members as she did to the family business. She was an integral part of past family businesses and the current business, Abbey’s Restaurant and Lounge, supporting her husband and raising the next generation of leaders for the family business. Kathy thought of all employees at Abbey’s as a member of her own family, treating them with the same care and kindness.

Along with an attitude of hard work and determination, Kathy passed along to her children several family recipes that are still made today. Her biggest joy was gathering people together for family dinners and events, bringing the generations of her children and grandchildren under one roof to enjoy family holidays and celebrations. From softball games to football scrimmages to musical performances, she never missed a single opportunity to support her children and grandchildren throughout the years.

Kathy’s spirit of charity was constant throughout her life, both inside and outside her family. If a family member needed her, she’d be there to support them immediately without a second thought. If she knew a child or family was in need, she’d always provide food, clothing, warm coats or toys. 

Kathy’s life eternally impacted her family, friends and community members. She is now resting with her Lord and savior and we’re thankful to know we’ll see her again one day. All who knew her were abundantly blessed. 
 
  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Donald and Tommy Zani, and a sister Bernadine Raicevich, and her husband Mike, also her late pet Ellie.
  Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Abbey Maroon, her children: Angie (Bob) Figura, Joey (Dawn) Maroon, Lenora (Al) Davies, Vanessa (Dean) Burk, all of St. Clairsville, sisters-in-law: Pat Zani of St. Clairsville, and Lucy Zani of Bridgeport, 7 grandchildren: Lauren Figura, Abbey and Joey Maroon, Anna and Jake Davies, and Deea and Dino Burk, a great grandson Braxton Figura, also her fury friend Lizzy.
  A private memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday July 6, 2021, at 12 noon at St.Anthony Catholic Church Bridgeport,with Fr. John Mucha as Celebrant, interment at Union Cemetery St. Clairsville. Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside assisting the family.
