Michael Kryah, Jr Obituary

Michael T. Kryah, Jr, 87 of Martins Ferry passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at UPMC-Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born on October 9, 1935, the son of the late Michael T. Sr. and Alma Eisenhauer Kryah in Wheeling, WV.

He was a graduate of Central Grade School, Wheeling Central High School – Class of 1953, West Virginia University and Ohio University – Eastern.

Mike was a Veteran of the U.S, Army, 7 years he was a member of the Walker Dick’s “All American Boys Acrobatic Troop”, 35 years he was the WTRF – Channel 7 Production Manager and Creative Service Manager, 13 years he was Production Coordinator for Gutman Advertising, 36 years he was Mickey The Clown at the Stone & Thomas Department Store, Tea Room, 29 years he was the executive producer of the Local Easter Seals Telethon for WTRF-TV and 20 years the executive producer of the Local MDA and Jerry Lewis Telethon, 23 years he was the Producer of Wheeling Hospital, “It’s Your Life, Live It Well”

Mickey was a devout member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, former team member of the RICA, Eucharist Minister, Greeter and Altar server for funeral mass’s, Chairman of the Parish Finance Committee, Committee member of the Diocesan Parish Share Drive for St. Mary Parish, Junior Citizen member of St. Mary Parish, Martins Ferry Knights of Columbus Volunteer of the Year, Mother of God Council 1421.  He was past president of the Martins Ferry Lions Club, member of the International Juggler’s Past and Former, the Polish National Alliance, Lodge 3220.

Mickey loved “Do It Yourself” projects, Clowning, Juggling working in Advertising and helping children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughters, Charlotte and JoAnn Yanok, brother John Kryah and sisters, Mary Drosieko and Betty Rycerz.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Charlotte (Twardoski) Kryah, married in September 1961, son Mark (Karen) Kryah of Indianapolis, daughter Michelle (Kryah) Yanok of Washington, WV, son Kenneth (Narae) Kryah, of Shadyside, Ohio, 7 grandchildren, Kevin, Alex (Beth), Laura Kryah, Andrew and Emily Yanok, Lexie and Kayla Kryah, brother Richard (Karen) Kryah of Canton.

Private services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935 at the convenience of the family.
