MICHAEL JOSEPH SULEK

Michael Joseph Sulek with family at his bedside, went home to be with his Lord, October 22, 2021 at Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehab. He was born to Martin and Theresa (Savaet) Sulek on March 31, 1928 in Lafferty, Ohio. Michael was one of 12 children born to this family.

In addition to his parents, Michael now joins his siblings who preceded him in death; Myrtle, John, Mary, Martin, Ann, Stanley, Frank, Joseph, Pete, and Walter.

Michael’s memory will be cherished always by his sons, Michael Sulek II of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Jeffrey L. Sulek of Raleigh, North Carolina, John F. (Kim) Sulek of Barberton, Ohio; grandchildren, Charles (Emma), Ethan (Abigail), Rachel, Adam, Rebekah; great-grandchildren, Eleanor, William, Mary; sister Frances Burkhart. Michael also enjoyed having a large number of nieces and nephews, many of which he maintained a wonderful lifelong connection.

A United States Army Veteran, Michael served his country honorably in the Korean Conflict from 1951 thru 1953. Throughout his life he was blessed with many joys and always enjoyed the simple pleasures such as attending auctions, mowing the yard, and simply sitting outside. However, his greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was evident that his family, as a whole, was everything. Growing up through the post-Depression era, Michael learned to appreciate the simpler things of life. He will always be remembered and missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.

The family would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt “thank you” to the staff of Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehab facility and to the special people from Hospice of Guernsey, Inc. Their care and compassion for Michael are truly appreciated.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 13, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. Patron Funeral Homes & Crematory Kelly Kemp Braido, 702 E. Main Street, Barnesville, where the Sulek family will receive guests prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Curtis Hallstrom will be officiating.
