Nina Von Johnson, 92, formerly of Martins Ferry, passed away, Monday, January 2nd, 2023 at her home in Hudsonville, MI. She was born on April 26, 1930, the daughter of Donald C. and Ella H. (Duckworth) Neavin.
In addition to her parents, Nina is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas William Johnson, great grandson, Caden Christopher Burke, four brothers, Donald, David, Kenneth, and Robert Neavin, and a sister, Joyce (Neavin) Kelner.
Nina was a loving mother and is survived by her seven children, Thomas (Vicki) Johnson, Joyce Johnson Ryan, Sandy (Stephen) Yaffe, Nanette Johnson, Timothy Johnson, Holly Johnson Minder, Barbara (Scott) Ballint, 13 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Also surviving is her Sandy (Neavin) Albert, and many nieces and nephews.
Nina was an Alumna of Martins Ferry High School. Before moving to Michigan, she was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving on the Board of Deacons, Trustees and as an Elder as well as a member of the Church Adult Choir. Nina served the Martins Ferry Band Parent Organization for 18 years, from 1966 to 1982, where she held many offices. She was recognized for her contribution to the Martins Ferry High School Music Program, for her years of volunteering. Nina was also involved in Child Study Club and other civic organizations, always giving back to her community.
Nina raised her children with love and devotion, each who feel Blessed to have her as their mother. She enjoyed her role as a grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all of them, her extended family and well as all who knew her.
A Memorial Service for Nina Von will be held Saturday, March 4th, 2023, at 11:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 400 Walnut St., Martins Ferry. Local arrangements entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home, Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry.
