Olga Dezio Obituary

Olga Virginia (Funari) Dezio, 102, of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, Wheeling, WV and Deltona/Sanford, FL, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at Liberty Commons Nursing Home.  She was born on March 4, 1918, in Glencoe, OH, a daughter of the late Basil and Louise (Peroni) Funari.  She had been living in Health Care Facilities near her son, Larry and his family since 2011.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Dezio; a brother, P. Larry Funari of Belpre, OH; and 5 sisters, Wanda McCleery of Celina, TX, Della Ann Trouten of Berea, OH, Eva Marie Gordon of Canton, OH, Emma Louise Reasbeck of Port Orange, FL and Betty Jane Cappelletti of St. Clairsville, OH.

Virginia graduated from Martins Ferry High School in 1936 and worked in Martins Ferry, OH, and Wheeling, WV with various firms in accounting, and finances, and sales until 1941.  Following marriage to Andrew Dezio that year, they lived in Wheeling and raised three boys.  Virginia was a very productive salesperson with King Jewelry Store for many years.  Her hobbies included golf, swimming, and tennis.  In 1965, the family moved to Florida.  She was a successful real estate agent in Cape Coral and Orlando, FL until she retired in 1990.

Surviving are her sons, John (Denise) Dezio of Charlottesville, VA, Lawrence/Larry (Grace) Dezio of Wilmington, NC, and Richard/Dick (Kathleen) Dezio of Alexandria, VA; a sister-in-law, Lucy Dezio Fornal of Columbus, OH; also she leaves eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 15, 2020 at 10:30 am in St. Michaels Catholic Church, 1225 National Rd., Wheeling, WV 26005, with Father Carlos Melocopon Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside, OH is entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
