Rev. Carole Anne (Rainbow) Valentine 77, went to be with her Lord and savior on, Monday, January 17, 2022, at Trinity Hospital-Valley Hospice surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 18, 1944, in Niagara Falls, New York. The daughter of the late Eugene M. and Emma (McKenna) Rainbow.
Rev. Carole was a retired RN having her master’s degree in nursing. She was the Assistant Pastor of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Bridgeport, she was a member of the Martin L. King Association, Urban Mission Ministries, Women’s Cancer Society and American Legion Eastern Star. Rev. Carole was very enthusiastic about her community and participated in numerous organizations throughout the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Lillian A. Rutledge, Joyce M. Bouch, Norma I Hamilton, Sylvia M. Green and Amelia (Clara) Lewis, 4 brothers, William F. Harknett, Charles E. Rainbow, James E. Rainbow, Roy Rainbow and 5 nephews and 1 niece.
Surviving are her only daughter Michelle A. (Anthony) Thomas and her special friend, Mr. Kent Lewis, grandchildren, Sherman L. (Brittany) Griffin, Sr., Tanita A. Griffin (Scott Swierkos), and Danita A. Griffin (Clint Lekanudos), great-grandchildren, Nakyiah C. Miller, Kiasia W. Griffin, Nevaeh A. Lekanudos, Shermari R. Griffin, Naliah A. Lekanudos, Kole S. Swierkos, Shermiyah Griffin and Sherman L. Griffin, Jr, sister; Gwendolyn Scott of GA complete the family.
Friends will be received Sunday, January 23, 2022, from 2-4 at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 Bridgeport, service to follow at 4pm, with the Rev. Rolland Owens and Rev. Dr. Ivy Jo Smith officiating.
