Richard Darby Obituary

Richard Duaine Darby, 69, of Beallsville, Ohio passed away at his home unexpectedly on Monday, June 9, 2025.  He was born July 10, 1955, a son of the late Earl and Loree Morris Darby.

Richard was a retired coal miner.  He was an avid fan of Nascar, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the San Francisco 49ers.  Collecting guns, hunting, fishing, and working on his 1984 Chevrolet Camaro were his favorite pastimes.  But his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, Kiliegh, Braxtin, and Owen.  Richard will be remembered for his sense of humor and his effortless ability to make people life.  He was a member of American Legion Post 768,  Woodsfield VFW Post 5303, and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2247. 

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a grandson, Evan Hess; siblings, Donald “Buck,” Russell, Ilene, Helen “Sis”, Hilda, Ken, and Leland.

Left to honor his memory are a daughter, Terra Darby; a son, Eric (Amanda) Darby; grandchildren, Kiliegh Darby, Braxtin Hackney, and Owen Darby; a brother, Bob Darby; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ernie Ferguson, also many special nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend Richard’s graveside service Friday, June 13th at 12noon in the Beallsville Cemetery at which time those in attendance will be invited to honor Richard’s memory by sharing their stories and memories.

In lieu of flowers and keepsakes, memorial contributions to help with funeral expenses  may be made to Wilson Funeral Home, 912 National Road, Bridgeport, Ohio 43912.
