Russell Paul Westling, 88, of Dillonvale passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 8, 1937, in Steubenville, the son of the late John Andrew and Anna (Futey) Westling.
Russell retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Mingo Plant, as a Molder in the Foundry, and was a carpenter and bricklayer. He was Presbyterian by faith, and a veteran of the Army National Guard, Steubenville, Ohio, 107th Armor Division.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, George Westling, James Westling, Douglas Westling, Clifford “Kip” Westling, Johnny Westling, son-in-law, Rick Jenkins, and brother-in-law Harold Cunningham.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 40 years, Sherry (Vargo) Westling, children, Brian (Anita) Westling, Stephanie (Dan)Whitaker, Heather Westling, Lori (Todd) Kelly, Greg (Kelley) Novak, grandchildren, Brittany McCabe, Drake, Lance and Kasey Novak, James Blazy and Jack Kelly, great-grandchildren, Kenna, Matthew, and Levi McCabe, sisters, Regina (Doug) Patterson, and Carol Cunningham as well as several nieces and nephews complete the family.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second St., Dillonvale, OH 43917 from 2-4 and 6-8. Funeral Service will be Monday, October 6, 2025, at 11am with Pastor Bill Westling officiating with burial to follow at Holly Memorial Garden, Pleasant Grove, OH.
