Terry Smith Obituary

Terry Parsons Smith of Wheeling, West Virginia died peacefully at home on August 9, 2025.

He was born on August 2, 1937 in Bridgeport, Ohio to the late Joseph William Smith and Glenna Leigh (Parsons) Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters Jay Bach, Shirley Edwards, and Deborah Sue Smith; and a brother Joseph Arch.

Terry is survived by his six children: Scott Smith of Wheeling, Robin (Harvey) Lucas of Wheeling, Shell Smith of Wheeling, Stacey Popicg of Annapolis, MD; Randi K. Smith (Derrick Wright) of Alexandria, VA, and Stefie Smith of Wheeling; Nine grandchildren: Chelsea, Brandon, Eli, Adalee, Alexa, Emil, Sierra, Alyssa, and Trenton;  Six great-grandchildren: Nolan, Viera, Parsons, Dante, Emmett, Annie Love, and Jasmine; several nieces and nephews; and his devoted loving cat Gray who laid by his side until his passing.

Terry’s family would like to extend their gratitude to his secretary of 40 years Lisa Kunze, his special caregivers BJ “Elizabeth Josephine” Pietranton Olson, Michele “Michele the Magician” Lee, Rachel Croft, and Marilyn Thomas; as well as the staff at Amedisys Home Health Care and IC Care In-Home Companion Care for all the care and support they have given to Terry.

At Terry’s request there will be no service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Bridgeport, OH 43912. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Terry’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (800-478-5833) https://www.stjude.org or the Ohio County Animal Shelter, 7011 National Rd., Triadelphia, WV 26059.
